Photo Restoration Print

Below is the result of time spent restoring an old photo. I didn't spend near as much time on this photo as I should have, but enough to satisfy my appetite for this type of project.

Once I had the majority of the folds, scratches, and scanner artifacts cleaned up, I thought I would add a bit of color to the photo. Colorizing a B&W photo isn't nearly as hard as it seems, although I did initialy have problems with skin tones. The colors were randomly chosen. I had no reference to any color history of that time period, which I would guess would have been early 50's.

Color photos of that period I would imagine were pretty drab. I wanted to keep the photo somewhat original in terms of color. In other words, I didn't want to over saturate the colors, so I kept the opacity down.

I didn't bother with the background, much of the detail was lost in the scan. I was impressed how well the hair turned out.
